“Celebrity Du Jour” by Darren Ockert Finalist in the 2009 AmericaFree.TV Music Video Awards

“Celebrity Du Jour” from Darren Ockert has been chosen as one of the Finalists for AmericaFree.TV 2009 Music Video Awards. AmericaFree.TV is recognizing the many fine videos received by their relaunched music video channels by having a contest for the Best Music Video on AmericaFree.TV in 2009. A 1 month period of audience voting will lead to the announcement of 3 winners, one each in the categories of Rock, Hip Hop and Pop / Contemporary, on March 15th. The winners will get recognition on AmericaFree.TV and a small cash award.

Darren Ockert's Celebrity du Jour got an Honorable Mention and placed seventh in the Indie International Songwriting Contest Summer 2009.

This is what the judges had to say about Celebrity du Jour:

"A very clever lyric and a catchy melody make this song stand out. The rhyming and insights make the lyric really special and classy. And the production shows off all of these elements nicely.

...a great sense of both composition and melody. Great build-up and payoff in the Verse/Pre-Chorus/Chorus and then a nice departure for the Bridge.

The melody is catchy and fun, married up really well to your lyric. They enhance each other effectively. Lots of twists and turns, expert use of repetition and patterning to keep it continually interesting. Not easy to do. Love the darker Bridge, it provides a great ear-break and makes the Chorus feel great when it returns....

...I've heard songs on this subject before, but this one is really professional-level all the way through."
